With the dog days of August just around the corner having frozen dog treats made of peanut butter and yogurt is a good way to cool your dog down.
Ingredients:
32 ounces of yogurt (plan or vanilla flavored)
1 cup smooth peanut butter
In a large bowl, safe for the microwave, scoop out the peanut butter and heat in the microwave until it melts. Remove from the microwave and add the yogurt. Mix well.
Place cupcake papers into a muffin pan. Pour the mixture into cupcake papers and freeze. (Putting the filled papers into a muffin tin makes freezing them easier to manage.)
After fun in the sun, you can peel the paper off the frozen treat and give it to your favorite dog.
(I’ve received this from several sources, including DogTreatRecipes.org, Browneyedbaker.com, and the Poop Pantry. I’d love to give credit where credit is due, but I simply can’t identify the original source.)
One of the nice things about frozen dog treats is that you can make a batch and dole them out as needed on hot days. This is an easy treat to adapt. Try using a pureed banana instead of the peanut butter if your dog likes bananas. You can also substitute pumpkin puree, apple sauce or cooked and pureed carrots.
