Joey goes with me wherever the law allows. Unless a sign states that only service dogs are allowed, we enter. If asked to leave, we do so politely.
Places where Joey has never been welcome are farmers markets. It’s understandable. They are crowded with people, carts and children. It would be easy to get wrapped in a leash and fall. The sun beats down on hot pavement. There’s not a lot to interest a dog.
A new complimentary pet sitting service offered by Bethany Aukerman of Petopia-LA is changing that. Bethany stakes out a shady, grassy knoll near the Laurel Canyon end of the market, north of the bank building. The service is free, although donations are always welcome. Petopia-LA is a fully bonded and insured company offering petting sitting, dog walks and hikes, private boarding for small pets and overnight stays for all pets.
